TEXTILES

Our textiles conservation ranges from a very gentle clean, removing dirt and mould, reducing stains and watermarks to stabilising fragile fabrics and repairing losses to stitching and weaves. We can also eradicate insect infestations.

We have worked on a range of different textiles, dating as far back as 100BC.

This includes an ongoing collection of pre columbian textiles, 17th century tapestries to costume and more recent sentimental pieces.

Cleaning of a wool rug in preperation of loss infill

Nazca /Wari Camelid Textile 500 - 800AD

This textile had a lot of losses in the blue threads. Here we have attached a patch of fabric to the areas of loss, which has been dyed to colour match the original threads This is a simple way of infilling the losses without using too much stitching, while stabilising the textile.
